Peer Academic Coaches

What is Peer Academic Coaching?

Peer Academic Coaches provide one-on-one support for students as they develop strategies for academic success.  The PAC team also provides referral support to help direct students to a variety of services and resources both within the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre and across campus.

Who are we?

Peer Academic Coaches are a team of student leaders representing a broad range of academic years and faculties who provide one-on-one peer coaching to fellow UBC students.  With specialized training in goal setting, communication, and interpersonal skills, this Peer Program works hard to support all students.  The PAC team looks to inspire and motivate their peers to make positive changes in their lives, and to continue to strive for academic success.

What do we do?

  • Co-host the Coaches Corner in the Chapman Learning Commons (Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, Level 3) together with Science Peer Academic Coaches and International Peer Program.
  • Provide one-on-one peer academic coaching to students in order to help peers develop strong study skills and learn strategies for academic success.
  • Turn online and print academic learning resources into useful learning tools for the UBC community.
  • Promote and encourage a healthy and balanced approach to student life here at the University of British Columbia.
