**The KTP is an affiliate member of UBC Peer Programs and formally housed under UBC Orientations.
What It Is:
This program born out of the UBC School of Kinesiology is committed to ensuring that every KIN student experience consists of leadership & involvement, learning & research, community service, health & well being and career & professional development. This program is an affiliate Peer Program that aims to provide new-to-program students with opportunities to explore these areas, identify interest, determine goals for their first year and establish an identity as a UBC Kinesiology student.
Who We Are:
The KTP runs almost exclusively on the brain power and energy of KIN MUG (My Undergraduate Group) Leaders. Each MUG Leader is a senior student leader, who has demonstrated excellent leadership and contribution to student life within the School. A MUG consists of a small group of new-to-program KIN students who all share a common section of a core class together, led by a MUG Leader.

What We Do:
MUG Leaders support their students as they transition into university by providing goals coaching, coordinating monthly events and activities designed specifically for new KIN students. This program is the gateway for getting involved on campus, becoming a student leader and having a smooth and successful transition into university and the School of Kinesiology.
In summary, KIN MUG Leaders:
- Support the year-round student transition into UBC.
- Coach students through their first year experience and encourage exploring beyond academia.
- Create a welcoming environment and sense of community within the School of Kinesiology.
- Facilitate events and activities for new students to participate in to connect them to peers, senior students, faculty, staff, campus and alumni.
- Participate in their own ongoing personal and professional development throughout their involvement.
- Celebrate their MUGs achievements and successes throughout the year, but especially in April.
