As International Peer Advisors (IPAs), we are dedicated to supporting international students to achieve success at UBC. We are a mix of domestic and international students who are trained by professional advisors and we have the expertise, experience, and passion to assist you in making life at UBC memorable!
We offer one-on-one advising to students and provide basic assistance in filling out various types of application forms related to immigration and health insurance. We provide useful information about upcoming events and activities for international students and motivate them to get involved on campus. We also collaborate with other programs and campus partners to develop workshops, and to organize events for international students.
WHO WE ARE?
As International Peer Advisors (IPAs), we are dedicated to assisting international students with a variety of issues including immigration, health insurance, employment, cultural transitions, and campus services. We are a mix of domestic and international students who are trained by professional advisors and we have the expertise, experience, and passion to assist you in making life at UBC memorable.
We work in the foyer of International House, in residences, Irving K. Barber Learning Centre as well as online. Please visit us at the times and locations listed below.
WHAT WE DO?
- Offer one-on-one advising to students on several issues related to study permits, work permits, employment, health insurance and campus services.
- Provide basic assistance in filling out application forms for study permits, work permits, health insurance, SIN etc.
- Refer students to various campus resources depending on their concerns or issues.
- Provide up-to-date information about upcoming events and activities for international students and encourage them to get involved on campus.
- Collaborate with other programs and campus partners to develop workshops, and to organize events for international students.
