Stephanie Mervyn, 4th Year Kinesiology major and member of the Kinesiology Transition Program, talks about her experiences with KTP.
As a transfer student to UBC, I knew that I wanted to be a MUG leader as soon as I attended Imagine Day. The energy was contagious and I knew I could be a wicked leader. HKIN cheers were heard all through campus and a sea of green, good-looking students paraded around.
Flash forward to a year later when HKIN became KIN and the KTP program emerged. An ambitious Kinesiology Transition Program (KTP) marked the start of my Peer Programs involvement.
I was pumped on Imagine Day and welcomed the many transfer students to UBC. The energy and enthusiasm was exciting. I made friends with my “muggies” and told them the ins and outs of campus life – where to find the best coffee, the quietest places to study and the best gym to work out at – the essentials of a successful university life.
Being a leader in KIN has been amazing and being a MUG leader is only one of my many involvements at UBC. I will graduate this May and leave UBC campus, but I will always be connected to the university and the people who have made my undergrad experience much more than just academics.
